Haha I wish I could offer people jobs!

I am currently on a sort of sabbatical to work on personal projects/change careers.

This is my heatmap of cycling in Bangkok (metro area of 17M people), plenty of fantastic cycling, if you know where to go.

Urban areas are great too if you know where to go.
The south of Thailand has less air pollution, so it’s fine to go there even in Dec-Mar.

Graag gedaan :)

… Turns out phones lighting up are visible even with tinted windows. As supernice as people are here. Even here, car-brain is real.
- From Dec to Mar air quality is mostly garbage (20x WHO norm on avg).

I love cycling here though! It shows various sides of Thailand that you otherwise do not see.

Bad:
- So many drivers just play with their phone while driving or are making phonecalls. And the more ‘luxurious’ the car, the higher the chance they are not focused on the people around them. I see this every ride. They don’t deserve to be on the road if they don’t care about wellbeing of others

- Motorbike riders generally have good skills, but some drive recklessly and against traffic.
- Cars have fully tinted windows, so hard (if not impossible to make eye-contact with drivers)
- Lack of bicycle infrastructure in urban environments.

Be considerate about:
- Dogs are never on a leash and often not behind a fence, but they are mostly scared if you confront them
- Drivers generally have poor driving skills and etiquette (e.g. no indicator use, bad cornering, etc). Read their ‘body’ language at all times and expect the unexpected

Top:
- Rural roads, gravel, mtb, (urban) canal paths. Some real quality across the country.
- Food/drinks availability (and delicious!)
- Stunning landscapes
- Diversity of rides
- Friendly people you come across
- Most drivers give enough space when overtaking
- Always feels adventurous

I might see you there (not 100% sure yet if I go) :)
