My mom (on the left) was an Air Evacuation nurse. Died at 101 in 2021. She would have been so honored

Have fun! Here's a blanket I spun and wove. Turned into a breed study - spun single breed yarn. A lot of it is Shetland or Jacob, but also Finn and Gotland.

Claimed by Ms. MO Boudreaux before it was even dry after wet finishing.

For point of reference, I'm barely 5'2"

Pictures of my new Little Gem ready to spin, folded up, in its bag, & (next post) on my shoulder. It's certainly going to be my go-to for travel. If it didn't have a Willie Winder on my Kromski Sonata, another travel wheel, I'd have to let it go. #SpinningWheel #handspinning #Majacraft #FiberTools

My #Majacraft #LittleGem came! So cute, a bit of a different spin, but quite lovely. It folds down to nothing, is feather light (especially compared to the Suzie!), and the bag is great. I didn't want to fold it so that twho and tell will have to wait. #SpinningWheel #handspinning #tools #fiberarts

Wow, this is the biggest response I've ever gotten to a post here. Below is a picture of my mom (shorter on the left). More details about her in the ALT text. And more pictures from her service

Plotting and planning...I'm thinking of making a shawl with some/all of these fibers. I may just use the yak/silk, if I have enough once the 2nd braid is spun, and it may be just the black or the black and grey both for the warp. fiber descriptions in Alt text. #handspun #handwoven #fiberarts

Wash day! I am bad about doing the final finishing/setting the twist on my #handspun. Instead I let the skeins pile up and then do a washing marathon. Details in the picture ALT text #fiberart #handspinning #spinnersofbluesky #handspinning #spinningwheel #spinningyarn

Had a very satisfying time last weekend cleaning up bobbins with bits and bobs of yarn. In this case, there was a wee bit of baby camel/silk, and another almost full bobbin of merino/ tencel. The result is quite lovely, soft, and draped. #handspun #fiberart #silk #spiningyarn

I think this is the most I've ever filled one of these bobbins. Polworth and silk, unknown source, all the tags have are fiber and numbers I assume r/t colorway. Been waiting to decide if plying these together would work. I think it has. #handspun #spinning #fiberart #craftiverse #stashbusting

These have been hanging over my head for over a 1.5 years is completed. I wove a set of 3 Pendleton "worm" #rugs / #blankets, but made a misjudgment in my wet finishing and set 2 aside until I could figure out a fix. Made using the trim from #PendletonBlankets #weaving #handwoven

Tour de Fleece day 14/stage 13 involved no spinning. Another long day and time w/my wife was more important to me. I did get the lotus fiber, dyed by Pan's Garden skeined. Started out at 2 oz/56 grams, wound up with 174 yds/159 meters fractal double ply
July 19, 2025 at 2:08 PM
Plyed the lotus fractal spin, really can't wait to see it skeined. Alas, I split the hank visually, and lost the game of plying chicken, which is really too bad with this - it's only 2 oz. I think I'll try plying using my new plying dragon. I have another hank of this - maybe I'll weigh next time

As suspected, if I want to spend any quality time with my wife, now that I'm back at work my Tour de Fleece time has shrunk drastically. I took a few minutes to start plying my lotus fiber fractal spin and it was just so pretty I had to share.

Tour de Fleece Stages 9 and 10. Slowing way down d/t going back to work and actually paying attention to my poor carpal tunneled hands. Chain plyed the Merino/silk/cashmere Greenwood Fiber Works braid. Will be interesting to compare with the last braid I did in this colorway in yak/silk.
July 15, 2025 at 1:42 PM
I did finish hemming the towels I started on another "fibercation." Tomorrow I should be able to ply both the lotus and the Greenwood Fiber Works bobbin. Then it's back to work and just bits and bobs while admiring everyone else's work!

Tour de Fleece days 6, 7, 8: it's been a lot. Thursday I had to be up in the Reno early in the day, for human and auto maintenance, and Thursday is when my hands started to hurt.
July 13, 2025 at 3:59 AM
Tour de Fleece day 5. I finally finished the Greenwood Fiber Works braid, will chain ply tomorrow. I then took a break to start hemming the last batch of towels/table runner. Only got the three already spoken for done. And then I pulled out some lotus fiber from Pan's Garden for a fractal spin.

Tour de Fleece day 4 . Soooo close. I'll finish this tomorrow and let it rest before chain plying.

Gotta get those towels hemmed.

Tour de Fleece day three. Same Greenwood Fiber Works merino, silk, cashmere in colorway Calypso.

Man, I'm slow. Ah well journey not just destination. I've taken this week off, once back at work it will be "just get some spinning in each day."
