Fantastic celebration of @gawainsmum.bsky.social festschrift. Lovely to see so many colleagues and students current and past, which speaks to Helen's contribution as a scholar, colleague, and friend. @webstermedieval.bsky.social

Just heard on the radio that research at an Australian university has discovered that one's mind is most capable at around age 60. And just as I am dithering whether to throw myself at trying to get funding for a PhD! Value your age - it turns out you could be sharper than you've ever been before.

Nice quiet train for the first leg of today's trip, so much coffee fuelled emailing accomplished.
Laptop, coffee and notebooks on a train.

Ooh that's good to know. Added to the list for a future trip!

Yes, I hear you. Makes sense that they can't take stuff where they can't know what's in it. Sad, but true, that people would spike stuff too.

Thanks, that's useful to know, especially as we quite often turn our fruit crops into jam, or occasionally chutney.
webstermedieval.bsky.social
Yes, that's happened with our apples, too. I had to do some emergency pruning earlier in the summer so we could walk up the garden.
webstermedieval.bsky.social
Oh wow, that's fantastic. As ours are fallers, they're somewhat damaged, but will think about that if/when we get round to picking the rest (which may need a better ladder, too).
webstermedieval.bsky.social
Wow, it's quite the apple crop this year, plus a few small pears. This is just what fell from the trees while we were away for a few days.
