It’s a rather wonderful aspect to Bookselling that bookshop visitors are rather lovely.
Wishing the visitors from the USA who took a trip to our ancient holy well earlier the safest of journeys. After chatting about Scottish history and what to see…
They just popped back afterwards with a gift! 🥹

“A vain, outlandish, anti-immigrant, fear-mongering demagogue runs for President - and wins”.
Written in 1935 It Can’t Happen Here has never been more relevant. One of our best-sellers in '25.

An altogether different type of horrifying warning during this Halloween season. But is it too late…?

With authoritarianism on the rise, book bannings through political censorship, minorities targeted, it’s never been more important to stand up for writers, communities and the books which have been challenged. Join @indexcensorship and booksellers in #bannedbooksweek.

Under a sign reading "Banned Books Week UK", a selection of banned books are arranged on a table inside The Wedale Bookshop.

It's 10 years since a revived Borders Railway opened. Having Stow station less than five minutes' walk away has brought us many regular customers from across the Borders and beyond. As a green-hearted bookshop, having good public transport is essential. 💚

You may have noticed a new logo on our website or entrance door.
We have joined the Breastfeeding Friendly Scotland scheme, which means we understand the Scottish legislation and will support mums to feel confident about breastfeeding on the premises. A small step but hopefully a helpful one.
