Agreed. And these practices burn out SMS as a mechanism for GOTV and persuasion, which is very very important in the current technological era.

The short summary is that Beyond Coal is still winning, and America is continuing to reduce its reliance...

While the larger Sierra Club has faced some rough internal and external criticism for straying from its core environmental mission, Beyond Coal is still quietly plugging away and kicking ass.
Can the war on coal still be won?
Ten years ago, the U.S. was on track to phase out coal by 2030, thanks to the Sierra Club. Now Trump and AI are delaying the fuel’s decline.

I know this is an older and tired take, but we shouldn't take it as sheer coincidence that Trump's increased compliance with Putin's demands is happening as the same time as all of the Epstein stuff. Esp since those emails says Putin has stuff on Trump.

Just throwing that out there.

If they need a bailout, the answer is simple: NATIONALIZE IT. Run it as a public utility overseen by the FTC and FCC with a regulated rate of return, just like we did when we broke up the oil and electric trusts a century ago.
If they're going to take public money, then the public should own it.
There is no greater need on the center-left and in the center than unity against AI (or crypto) bailouts.

If Trump does it, he has to do it alone with his oligarch pals, no Democratic support ala Pelosi/Obama in 2008 or Biden & Larry Summers in 2023 (SVB).

I had misgivings on Shapiro prior. But I am basically a one issue voter and that issue is climate.
This is cowardice and stepping backwards in an era when we need all the forward momentum we can muster.
🤦🏻‍♀️ "It was a shocking reversal on a very significant climate policy,” said Jen Quinn, legislative and political director at the Pennsylvania chapter of the Sierra Club. “I don’t think there’s any other way to say it besides [we are] shocked and disappointed.”
Pennsylvania becomes the first Democratic-led state to pull out of the Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative.

Gotta hand it to Marjorie Taylor Greene. At every second she's been ahead of the curve:

Embrace QAnon
Embrace Nick Fuentes (remember when she lost her committee assignments over that?)
Leaving office in defeat and disgrace.

Look forward to lots of her colleagues joining her one year from now.

Trump wants to drill offshore in Florida and California?
Sure. Thanks for handing us these giant gifts of THE MOST UNPOPULAR POLICIES YOU CAN IMAGINE

We shall fight him on the beaches. Like, pretty much exclusively on the beaches on this one. Oh and in court, at the ballot box. And he's gonna LOSE.

Star Trek fans, how does the ship's computer (circa TNG/DS9/VOY) work? When Riker walks into quarters and asks for "Music!" is it pulling from a library of music, or is it procedurally generating something new, like asking an AI to write jazz or something?
I'm inclined to believe the former.

'Matt Gaetz Raped A Homeless Teenager' is what you mean.

A teenager with a homeless parent? What? The fuck? Did she have a home and not allow her parent to live in it? Ended up having sex with? What? Yeah clearly you guys been caping for pedos long enough and you understand the assignment here
A teenager in Florida with a homeless parent wanted money for braces and ended up having sex for money with powerful men, setting off a chain of events that would have a dramatic impact on her life and help upend the political career of Representative Matt Gaetz. nyti.ms/49PSkL9

Wow, I didn't expect the apologia so quickly that having sex with 15 year olds is ok.

Right Wing 2015-2024: "Emails about pizza orders are code for pedo sex trafficking."
25: "Emails explicitly talking about underage sex trafficking are, fine, actually, because these girls were 15."

There was an NYT piece last week about the Sierra Club, and (by extension) the current state of the climate movement.

I think they got three big things wrong.

The Epstein story gets a something that is tearing at the heart of the electorate: elite impunity. The idea that wealthy and powerful people can do terrible things *at scale* and face no consequences for them. Whatever political party actually stops it could rule the country for a generation.

If anyone actually dug into Trump's real estate deals-- especially 666 Park Ave and Trump Soho -- I GUARANTEE YOU that you would find dozens if not hundreds more of these real estate transactions where a Russian, Saudi, Yemeni shell-buyer would purchase a piece of property at an inflated price
"Trump buys the house at the telephone auction. only me trump and his friend pulty [sic] the developer. He quickly puts it on the market for 125 million. … Three years later 08 he sells it to Ryboloolev [sic] for approx 100 million."

I … um, hol' up.
