I can never truly guess - but sometimes it does sting a little when something I've put a lot of work into doesn't do well. But that's the way it is. Speaking of podcasts: There'll be a new season when season 4 airs, right? Because I've been super excited about that.

Maybe that's part of it? But I also just think some fics don't spark a lot of interest and that's fine, but it does sting a little when it's a fic you're proud of.

Yeah, I think I base a lot of my expectations on how much effort I put into a fic and I proud I am of how it's turned out and that doesn't always correlate with how people perceive it...
