Surely it depends who you're texting? One for friendly acquaintances, two for close friends and family, three for partners.
And if people do put x's they're most likely to use two! Vital piece of information there.

I like this theory, though my duller headcanon has always been that "James Bond" is a code name which gets recycled along with the 007 designation.
HEADCANON ACCEPTED
NO TIME TO DIE Post-Credits Scene:

Close on Bond's hand. It begins to glow. An explosion of regeneration energy. Craig's face disappears in blinding light. When the light fades, Emma Thompson stares straight into the camera and smiles.

"It's about time," Bond says.

There are only two options. Either we *have* forgotten, or we have remembered and decided to root for the other side.
Gross hypocrisy.

I have been reading Emily Tesh's The Incandescent, which is brilliant, but I'm not sure a book about a stressed-out education manager making mistakes because of not having time to think things through has done wonders for my mental state during the Michaelmas term from hell.

Churchill in particular hated the women of Dundee for the role they played in helping boot him out as local MP after he flipped Tory.

In part, because they kept leading chants of "You're a WC with no seat!" at the notoriously thin-skinned Winston when he lost.

This is an excellent book; my only complaint was that I got to the end far too soon.
Murder by Memory: for all your sapphic spaceship murder mystery needs, starring a gimlet-eyed aunt and her feckless nephew on a thousand-year journey and where minds are stored in book form for when you need to put them in a new body. Usually the right one, but not this time …

I am in favour of this in theory, but mildly annoyed that this means I'll be paying twice what people using the park and ride pay to travel to work on the same bus.
Park and ride buses are free, meaning motorists can park for up to 16 hours for £2.50 and ride for free. The County Council said it was introducing the charge to work towards a healthier, more accessible and attractive city.

As November approaches, never forget that the BBC pinned a poppy on Cookie Monster.

Apparently some folks are playing real dumb about skull symbols so let’s play a little game I like to call “Nazi skull or not a Nazi skull”

First up, the Jolly Roger. This is a pirate skull, not a Nazi skull. It means you might get robbed, but prolly not genocided.

With me so far? 1/x

Alas 😢 I rarely manage to get to the Vaults but it is such a lovely cafe.
The Vaults & Garden Cafe has conceded defeat in its fight to stay at the University Church. Although 373 supporters donated to a crowdfunder, the owners say “It is apparent to us now that we are not going to raise the £100,000 target to help with the legal costs that we have already incurred.”

Incredibly minor point in the grand scheme of the horror of this policy, but this would mean that many women with ILR would be unable to go on maternity leave unless they had a very high salary or an amazing employer package.
The Conservatives have drafted the legislation.

ANY one of the conditions being met leads to ILR being revoked.

If annual income falls below £38,700 for six months (for any reason at all)

The Secretary of State would also have the powers add whatever further conditions they want.

There is a serious, and growing, issue of anti-semitism, along with islamophobia, in the UK, and that cannot be ignored. Personally speaking, I am not sure that allowing a shed load of people notorious for causing violence to run rampant is a good way to combat that. Might just be me though.

Can we please get some perspective. If Maccabi Tel Aviv supporters were banned because of a risk to them it would absolutely be anti-semitism. When they are banned because they have a track record of causing violence it is just common sense. Preventing football hooliganism is normally a good idea.

I made an infographic map. Oxford's Congestion Charge scheme (from 29th Oct) is not like most congestion charge schemes, because you can get to most streets in the city without being charged. My impression is a lot of people haven't realised this.

Kemi Badenoch asked where she would send the 150,000 people she says she would deport every year, replies that it's an "irrelevant question".
