We’re all on ban lists, probably. Honestly it’s for the best that the way we deal with our anger here on Bluesky is avoiding each other.

Ok now I want to see Robert Pattinson play Santa Claus. And by want, I mean probably don't want.

This entire presidency is just everyone in the country hoping that they don’t fall into the next ‘category’ of people that is chosen for attack.

Haitians? Not you, so ok.
Latinos? Not you so ok.
Somalis? Not you, so ok.
Democrats? Not you, so ok.

But it WILL eventually be you, so do something now!

I voted for Harris. So Harris voters are, for better or worse, my crowd. That’s why I have such disappointment in some (thankfully not all) of my fellow Harris voters who nowadays spend more time defending Gavin Newsom than actual ICE victims.

Yes, people of all stripes can be stupid. I want my politics to be about respecting human dignity for all people even “stupid“ ones (because that just means they’re human) if they’re oppressed. If that’s not what you’re here for then we clearly are different.

If standing against Trump isn’t about standing for his victims, whether or not you can forgive their mistakes, it’s meaningless. Whether or not you cheer for Newsom in the Gerrymandering Olympics doesn’t impress me if you’d rather lecture people than help them.

In the second case, people here on Bluesky were sharing headlines about a few Somali comunity leaders who were against Harris as though that makes the entire ethnically Somali population (in a state Harris carried!) worthy to suffer.

It’s gotten to its most extreme where some people the minute they see headlines about Somalis getting abused by ICE turn the entire story into “well Somali-American leaders who weren’t 100% for Harris need to apologize.”Imagine having your first reaction in that scenario be “we need apology videos.”

My Ward 8 neighbors and I are clear: our city is a place of welcome and solidarity, and we stand by those values. We love and support our Somali friends and neighbors, and we stand in support with all refugees, asylum seekers, and immigrants that have made our ward and city home.

Very few people who are defending Samantha Fulnecky defended Rümeysa Öztürk. If you had to look up that second name but not the first, ask yourself why.

You’re feeling a superior air over people who—not knowing who you are—were already more marginalized than you, and now they’re in a madman’s crosshairs.

And, besides, Minnesota stayed blue, so it’s not like the votes of the people pictured in the OP affected the outcome of the election.

One thing the internet needs to unlearn is the concept that forcing people to apologize is the endgame. Most people don't actually consciously believe that, but I'm often surprised at how much supposedly serious discourse is organized around that. Redemption should be about action, not words.
