I honestly wouldn’t be surprised to see this happen in New York in like 10-20 years, assuming that certain socially conservative immigrant groups eventually go the way of white ethnics of the 80s and 90s

I do remember hearing from someone at Nielsen a while back that white America and Black America had substantially different television watching habits but NFL Football was still number 1 for both demographics

I do ascribe to @theophite.bsky.social thought in that ‘FDR essentially built out the entire federal government in his first two terms’ — I am an optimist that we will be able to build back a lot, but I agree that a lot of the ‘just following orders’ types will need to be sent to The Hague

I feel like I have trust issues re: oatmeal raisin cookies because I always think they are oatmeal chocolate chip cookies—it’s a unique kind of betrayal because oatmeal choc. chip cookies are objectively better than just choc chip alone

I think we need to let it play out because you could also see a scenario where the Biden interregnum left them less capable, in thrall to a more feeble minded leader, more likely to crash out, and thus more likely to inoculate Americans as a whole against fascism over the long term
