Where is the kindness when we talk about trans people? Deeply empathetic essay from Kathy Sheridan. The take of the young girl at the centre of transphobic outrage at a match is a horror story, but this where transphobia takes people! #speirgorm

Just came across this recent paper about trans politics in Spain, and what do you know, same pattern as in the Anglosphere: "a direct positive link was observed between feminist identification and support for pro-trans actions, while a negative association was found with anti-trans actions"
Bridging the divide: Understanding the psychological factors influencing feminist women's support to transgender related policies
The demand for trans people's institutional rights and the approval of the Trans Law (Law 04/3023) has polarized the feminist movement in Spain. In this contentious context, our studies examined the ...

I read an article on the BBC a couple of days ago where they quoted a study claiming adolescence lasts until 32! I’m not sure many 30 year olds would appreciate being called children!

This incredibly precarious situation will leave trans adolescents incredibly stressed. It creates and maintains an incredible power force over them, where any protest, opinion or refusal to comply through or even at the end of trial can lead to healthcare withdrawal.

The thing about the Linehan case is that either the Judge is sympathetic to 'gender critical' ideology or British law thinks it's perfectly acceptable for a 57 year old man to stalk, doxx and physically attack a 17 year old girl.

Both explanations are horrifying.

The attack on his niece was a few years ago. Everything this scumbag has done since has been with full awareness of what he's been empowering and emboldening.

To come out with this now is gobsmacking. I don't know how he's got the nerve.
Irks me when he says this because I’ve been at an LGBT event he’s been at, I’ve seen him attend others; he is in no way unaware of this being a problem nor his own role in it

Trans people have been given honours *for representing the trans community* several times:

Helen Belcher OBE, 2023.
Caroline Paige MBE, 2024.
Capt. Hannah Graf MBE, 2019.

What would the current political climate like to do to Hannah Graf, & her trans husband, now?

However those in the lgbt community did not forget about starmers part in stoking anti-trans and anti-lgbt hatred.

Starmer concluded it was appropriate to disrespect the hypothetical trans person in death in interviews with mums net.

Then a dead underage trans girl captured the nations attention and he hoped people would forget what he said. So he went performative on sunak. Despite Starmer saying worse.

Good Fast Times article on New York Times headlines. I was interviewed. One thing I should have noted: the rage-bait comes increasingly from the opinions section.

I used to criticise the judiciary in countries with very poor civil liberties and human rights records, saying that judicial independence requires not only the separation of powers but also independence among judges themselves. I never imagined I would have to write this here.

Curious how Sophia, (remember a teenager who wasn't on trial), being arrested by EIGHT officers didn't make front page news. She didn't get a supportive statement from the PM or the Free Speech Union for some reason
Here's a thread from Twitter shared with Sophia's permission in which she finally is able to talk about Graham using the police as HIS personal goon squad and getting Sophia arrested at home by EIGHT armed police officers, somewhat putting the standard Heathrow armed cops in perspective.

I was once sceptical about the value of juries but I've learned through the trans work how shabbily our institutions treat those without privilege and fear their passing.

Like the Supreme Court's judicial roll back of human rights, this change to our justice system will hit the weakest hardest.

I actually think it's bad that the law thinks that calling a 17 year old a "sissy porn-watching scumbag", a "groomer" and a "disgusting incel" in public is not a crime, and indeed I do not think criticising this would constitute "[picking] sides in the debate about sex and gender identity".
