Maybe they need a few ranks of Czech hedgehogs and strings of barbed wire there to resist an attack from the north whilst their outer fence is temporarily vulnerable.

The precision with which the widest part of the obstruction had been aligned with a lamp-post is striking; it's almost like they want everyone to slip over on the grass.

Even some of that horrible slippy plastic temporary path stuff which was put in Roseburn Park when the path was getting re-done would be better than nothing, but nothing it is. They still have the spy robots sitting about so could surely store their excavator on the other verge overnight.

It's back to being effectively closed again, where the fence bulges out around their equipment... bsky.app/profile/wing...
#EdTravCyc Ferry Road path behind Leonardo down to less than 30cm in places where they've pushed the temporary fence back out without leaving enough space to pass. No way anything other than a narrow standard cycle can get past there without going on the (squelchy, muddy) grass...

Hopefully the make, colour, and at least the first four characters of the plate (might be visible in the original) should be something for the new online police reporting portal to go on...

For balance, I also tried the alternative going round the back along Pilton Drive and West Granton Road to reach West Granton Access but, whilst it avoids the roundabout, there are some slightly more horrifying surfaces than even Ferry Road/Crewe Toll in places.
As a bonus, there were a couple of vehicles being driven straight on over the Morrison's junction which went through on the red as traffic from Pilton Drive had a green. The road surface is awful, the cycle lane worse, and the cycle lane is away to the left and little use for going straight on.

The path is open, but has a few artificial pinch-points. Whilst now not blocking the path, the fence is still further out than it needs to be AND the spy robots are all still where they were, on the opposite side of the path from Leonardo, outside of the enclosure they're supposed to be protecting.

Eeep. I'm not a fan of either cones nor plastic barriers but I hope there's something round that to try and stop nonline people cycling into it in the dark?

@greenleejw.bsky.social Hopefully such sayings will remain in use if enough people continue to get practical experience.
Do vets who work at aquaria and have to do this fairly regularly have special clamps/gloves at their disposal?

Film-wise, you could refer to Rogue One under this system as 4♭, or 4♭⁰ and then 4♭¹ and 4♭² for Andor S1 and 2, tucked in like the lanthanides.

The robot at the west end of the enclosure was a fair bit away from the fence. It is unknown if the robots have any offensive or speech capabilities, like those placed at the back of the cut-through under the A1 from QMU a few years ago which shouted at you if you went past them.

Spy robots at the eastern and western ends of the fenced-off section. Human operatives patrolling inside. According to the sign, audio recordings are being made, which will have picked up lots of sweary banter between the two guys wandering about tightening up the fence clamps.

Perhaps, whilst they're in a fence-removing mood, they could get their contractors to knock through a temporary access point and put down a temporary path to the West Granton Access at the point shown, for a very roundabout diversion onto the red bridge without having to go round the roundabout?

Even if they're worried about security whilst the work is being done they must surely have access to some sort of security devices or personnel? If they popped a few extra security guards on the bank it might even be beneficial for passing path users throughout the dark nights.

That's an offensively long closure. Surely they already have a fence? I hope we don't find that the new fence has encroached on the path or caused any damage to it.
