Nice thing about two phase motors is the drive waveforms plot a circle in two axes as they are in quadrature. You can see the amplifier reach clipping (square) until it comes up to speed regulation and then it backs off to just the necessary strength.

I stuff em in the ultrasonic bath... damn do they ever come out clean, including all the hidden bits and blind passages. (SU HIF-6 there in the picture.)

There we are, a thousand watts continuous output at 32kHz into 50Ω... Yes, that's a two thousand watt resistor sitting on the tempered glass... The system is resonant, and the 165nF on the load resonates with the internal inductance. Q is a bit under 2, with 1.7kVAR in the tank. >>

I engineered my own from scratch years ago. All I need to do is assemble it into a suitable enclosure and add some simple hardware.

<< that someone operated these without the ultrasonic transducers connected, which causes extreme voltage excursions in the inverter. The previous "tech" forced one of them to operate on the bench like this until it melted the 10AWG wire on the series inductor! The transistors thankfully survived...

It seems I'm now in demand as the local ultrasonics expert... Nobody has a clue how to fix these things and so they come in really fucked up. This generator is an interesting animal, a very crude Baxandall inverter implementation from SoniX IV. >>
