i'd wager that if labour somehow miraculously achieves a coalition govt with hipkins as leader we could well witness two successive one term governments.

on a demolition on some reclaimed land in nelson/whakatū shallow excavation revealed a similar pattern. rata bearers set into the mud at what would have been the king tide high water mark. apparently used to beach scows for repair/ maintenance.

similar issues in the building trade. good tradespeople refused to frame up with untreated timber when that was legislated. I refuse to squirt di isocyanate into the space between window frames and house framing. best practice in nz does mean being non compliant with a building code at times.

the hop farm back then was owned by a guy whose family had been growing hops for generations, and the workers during the season were nz'ers- some local, some transient. the farm is now american owned, and the workers are Nz RSE contracted.
nz basically provides the land for the hops to grow on:)

my flippant response was basically a retort to anyone who makes an outrageous comment like the deranged tech bro. yes, i'm against capital punishment. however, that position is based on the place in history i find myself in. i feel that the execution of participants in the holocaust was justified.
