It's extremely weird how people with morality extremely different from Tolkien think that his books are crypto-justifications for their preferred political agendas

The post says the RSC endpoints allow remote code execution, but not how

Is there an in depth explanation of what the bug is?

I'm thinking a github issue/PR/PoC exploit or something similar

In my experience, LLMs are bad at things that require a holistic understanding of the codebase.

They can be guided to see the necessary. I used the word "grandcallers" the other day to get it to learn the right context

Programming without programmers has been the dream since COBOL, and it's never panned out.

I expect it to fail this time too.

I recognize the implication that it would not be viable, but I do not yet have a concrete plan to deal with it

But I am selling my work professionally. Every line of code I commit needs to be one I can stand behind.

That might not be true if I were, say, scripting a tool that only I was going to use

I do a lot of React stuff, where it's actually very fast to look at a bunch of code and say <this is doing the obvious thing to create the HTML I want>, so that might not be a big lift.

I often tell cursor I don't like its approach and to redo it.

If I ask cursor/Claude to write a function for me, I read the whole thing and make sure I understand what it does as well as if I wrote it myself. I don't think that's vibe coding, but it sure speeds up my progress when I have to make a lot of changes or add missing tests

It's vibe coded if the human who asked for it doesn't understand how it works.

That's very bad if that person is supposed to be a programmer. The jury is still out on if it's bad for someone who can't program to vibe code something. Probably for production code, maybe not for a personal tool

I'm also a bit anxious about a Jevon's paradox situation.

I.e Code is cheaper, so we make and use more of it, which is likely to lead to more issues. Most of the cost of systems is in maintenance not build.

We will see, if it was going to have a huge impact we should be seeing it.

Oh, and of course Evangelion, where they dropped the externally visible plot for the psychodrama and never finished the world building, which is supported entirety by fanon
