#SundayWiMIN25 Week 24: Dr Marguerite O’Riordan

Dr Marguerite O’Riordan is an academic foundation doctor at University Hospital Southampton and a part-time Master of Public Health candidate at the University of Edinburgh.

Originally from Kerry, she moved to Birmingham in 2019 to study medicine and is committed to improving healthcare through leadership, advocacy, and evidence-based policy.

Her passion for medical leadership and health systems reform stems from first-hand experience navigating the NHS as a student and junior doctor - sparking her belief that structural change begins with clinicians who understand the system from within. This has guided her involvement in organisations such as the Healthcare Leadership Academy, where she is currently a cohort director.

Marguerite previously held the position of executive director at TranspariMED, working with research institutions and funders to improve clinical trial transparency globally.

She has represented students and junior doctors through leadership roles within the British Medical Association.

Driven by a commitment to improving equity and effectiveness in healthcare, she aims to bridge the gap between frontline clinical practice and systemic change through evidence-informed policy and leadership.

Lovely to meet Roisin and the rest of the Beaumont interns today, where they found out about the gender gaps in pay and data, got some tips on self-care, and heard about some books that are not recommended for reading at bedtime...
