condemnations of political violence are well taken but it does feel as if some
prominent political commentators are of the view that violence isn’t a part of the history of American politics and that is very much not true.

To look at this and still argue the rightwing majority was seriously and justifiably concerned about universal injunctions rather than treating Democratic power completely different than the Trump regime because they are opposed to the former and very much aligned with the latter is just silly.
The Supreme Court’s “shadow docket” has cast very different shadows depending on which party holds the White House.

When lower courts blocked Trump admin policies, SCOTUS intervened on an emergency basis to lift those orders in 77% of cases.

For the Biden administration, that number was 0%.

i can't even imagine the freakout if like mamdani or ilhan omar had ever refered to lenders as "shylocks." but unlike them, trump actually has a very long history of making disparaging remarks about jews
Will Meet The Press ask random other white politicians to condemn Trump's antisemitic language this weekend? Or does that only apply to Mamdani?
"No death tax, no estate tax, no going to the banks and borrowing from, in some cases, a fine banker. And in some cases, shylocks and bad people."

Much as I would not dare to predict the consequences of this war, I do think we can summarize it thusly so far:

A smart and evil man manipulated a stupid and evil man into a war against a fanatical and evil regime.

genuinely putting aside his reactionary bullshit, his writing is nonsense. constantly asserting legal conclusions as fact and filled with analysis that is unrelated to the conclusion he draws.

i'm not going to dunk on anyone specific, but calling John Roberts a great legal writer is unhinged. disengaged with reality.

Three things made the US a rich and powerful nation: the rule of law, its science & innovation system, and openness to foreign talent. Remarkable how Trump has taken a sledgehammer to all three. No enemy of this country could do more.

yeah i feel like a lot of this "Biden coverup reckoning" is a circle jerk between legacy media elites and establishment dems who are trying to perform accountability to prove theyre a different party. But they're not doing accountability about anything that actually matters to voters

John Roberts created a monster. It's about to eat him.
The Supreme Court faces an existential dilemma of its own creation.

The White House didn't say "stop teaching about the Tuskegee Airmen when you do US history." The White House said "stop doing DEI and wokeness," and the military interpreted it as "stop saying the Tuskegee Airmen were heroes, and maybe stop teaching about them altogether."

Yeah, that's bad.
Here's the thing about the Tuskegee Airmen history - there was nothing in the EO about it. Someone in the Air Force interpreted it that way -- which is far worse.
