Metaphor: ReFantazio is an absolutely fantastic JRPG, one I recommend EVERYONE to try out. It’s very narrative driven and discusses the themes of anxiety and how overcoming them makes you find your true self, and obtain the power you once lost. It’s very lengthy, but still respects your time.

You know how I said Dreamcast was my first console? Well, I lied. It was the PS1. Anyway, these three were one of my very first experiences to gaming, so they’ve become a tradition to play them every year. Not many games here have that honor.

15. Spyro The Dragon original trilogy (1998 -2000)

While the story is alright, the gameplay is really good for a tactical strategy JRPG. Places like the Item World and Chara World make grinding actually worth it and enjoyable. Also the battle animations are INSANE. Definitely one of my favorite and memorable RPGs.
