Just discovered: My great-uncle Duncan Blenkiron was a Lieutenant in the 18th Battalion of the Manchester Regiment that fought in WW1 at the Somme. On 29 Jan 1916 he was captured at Frise near Vaux in France and was a POW till October 2018.

Just discovered: My great-uncle Duncan Blenkiron was a Lieutenant in the 18th Battalion of the Manchester Regiment that fought in WW1 at the Somme. On 29 Jan 1916 he was captured at Frise near Vaux in France and was a POW till October 2018.

My Great-Uncle Alfred Victor "Tony" Blenkiron was an ace pilot in WW1. But he also got into all sorts of trouble. At 23, after the war was over, he took his own life.

Douglas Fell was a civil servant in India after studying at Oxford. He belongs to my family's FAN, as he “gave away” my mother at my parents’ wedding. My maternal grandparents were divorcing at the time and it was impossible to agree on who to invite.

We need to wake up fast, as the world careers towards disaster. We should look at how much energy increase the use of AI is causing. And: we need to cut back on military energy consumption. Here in Greece renewables are surging but NATO fighter jets flying constantly overhead 🙄
