Sending a dopamine spike on a good outcome is how the brain does reinforcement learning. The more dopamine, the more impact the prefrontal cortex has, to imprint well the behavior. However if you end up low on dopamine (or have ADHD) then the brain ignores the PFC and does whatever.

Epistemic trespasser here. Do you see a time when you didn't want to do X (go to sport, go out, etc) and then someone forces you to do it and in the end you say that it was nice and you were happy to do it despite not being motivated initially? Well that

Every time you wonder if you really need this much speed and then you realize that well... Yes

Yeah... I'm about to move and what do I see? You can get 10 GB/s on residential fiber now? Obviously that's what I'm getting but that's literally going to blow up all my gear, what am I gonna do 🤣

Not sure how true that is. In my experience LLMs are unable to code Rust properly (although very helpful to learn it), because the memory safety is so hard to grasp. And they are very bad at novel tasks.

So... Start a CSS alternative, it will be great. Make the VSDL of DNA, not so sure.

Ah yes Character.AI, this dystopian sexting app? Why am I not surprised 💀

The guy is clearly aiming for rock bottom from the get go, he knows very well that he's putting everyone on a path to hell

Got Claude to get a shot at this, I think I've found a peak AI use-case

For me it's more: what happens when they stab me in the back with a price hike, selling out my data, etc [which they all eventually do]

But as time passes, every person that told me "it's just a tool, I just need it to work" is getting bitten in the ass because they didn't form their threat model properly.

I'm currently waiting for Microsoft to massively betray the open source community and see what happens 🍿

Free the software!

Ironically I've always considered closed source software as evil (and I still do), but through the years I've learned that you can't be alone screaming at the void that our current society model will cause its own doom and fight every fight yourself. So I pay Adobe products now.

My roomates were shocked once when to settle a debate with a friend we had to take out a map of Westeros and measure distances for half an hour

In France this happens when they go on a strike, as a way to pressure the government. I guess in the US the government is immune to pressure 🤣

Well, brands also lose. It's an auction so their audience is getting divided by fraudulent ads, meaning the cost doing marking is going up for no reason at all...

I've never had the slightest doubt that I wanted to be an inventor since I've seen BTTF more than a quarter century ago.

Now I'm waiting to finally invent something that works

Also, happy 1 year here!
