Software engineer in PDX, trying to figure out how to get there by bike
Perfect example of why I avoid biking on SE 7th whenever possible. Paint isn't infrastructure

Also flying through Division and SE 12th at 60MPH

This isn't even a hypothetical, I was biking home from PIR and had these cops fly around me on SE 9th to get on Powell to try and catch him

*I say three sides because the neighborhood is kinda wedge shaped, with SE 17th making up the eastern edge of most of the residential housing. OR-99E cuts off the western and southern edges, and Powell is to the north

When you've been running PEX for 17 hours and the homeowner comes out and says the water pressure in the coat bath is low

It’s actually insane how beautiful the courthouse is and the expansive views they have are
December 2, 2025 at 5:29 AM
Yeah, it's about 15 minutes to the Clinton/12th stop on foot, but look at these views!

November: 224 miles on the bike and 41 on the car

I biked every single day of the month!

Feeding all my friends for the holidays

Downy woodpecker, chickadees, sparrows, finches, hummingbird chirping in the tree

A towhee hopping around here somewhere too

I can see why you’d think sidewalks would be for pedestrians to walk around on, but it’s actually just more car storage. Common misconception

Finally found a good front light for my bike to fight back against LED headlights blinding me all winter

I feel like this isn't even that bizarre of an ask either

@pbotinfo.bsky.social already directs you here on their bike map, SE 9th is already Brooklyn's, alleged, destined n'hood greenway

Theoretically the side roads are local jurisdiction, and there's nothing stopping improvements happening there

Next year will be the year
November 21, 2025 at 5:20 AM
Here’s my best shot at what it should look like. It would only cost the smallest curb build outs, two concrete planters, and some paint
November 21, 2025 at 5:12 AM
There's no marked crossings (yellow) here. Traveling north, you have to cross oncoming traffic twice, and hope the drivers running the stop sign (red) don't kill you because they're looking to their left

Not to mention cars taking illegal turns north and south here _across_ the middle double-yellow
November 21, 2025 at 12:12 AM
It's also just a waste of time and money because car drivers still just run over the fucking signs on the sidewalk

Instead of doing anything to make Powell less of a death trap, they become compliant by saying there's no crosswalk here to begin with, then shunt you to this horrible overpass
November 21, 2025 at 12:12 AM
ODOT sending out mailers about their ADA curb ramp work in the n'hood. As far as I can tell, this only pertains to *closing* crosswalks around me - no rebuilding

Funnily enough, their justification for closing these crosswalks relies on redirecting to the SE 9th overpass which is NOT ADA compliant.
