[Long: my music projects]

I produce music at a glacial pace, but over the years it adds up. These are the bits that are available online:

https://idlab.bandcamp.com is my old electronica / noise project.

https://mustardallegro.bandcamp.com is the math-surf band where I played bass. Only the […]

#looptober
I chopped up the 7/4 beat from the last one, added a little synth and effects.

I'm still looking for a software dev job. There's not much around, especially if you don't want to work on AI or weapons. Speaking of which, I came across this horrifying job title:
Screenshot of a job vacancy advert. The position is "Complex Warheads: Lethality Engineer - Undergraduate Placement"

Current conditions: Moon dogs
The moon shining through thin cloud, behind silhouette trees. On each side of the moon is a patch of slightly rainbowed refracted light, known as a moon dog.

I've left out three tracks with vocals, including the two Fedivision entries people around here are probably most familiar with. That leaves 11 or maybe 12 instrumentals, adding up to a pleasingly taut 38 minutes or so.

**Current project announcement**
I'm assembling a Pulsing Bulb album. It's mostly made up of my submissions for online challenges - the #lmc, #awhaleslantern and a couple of others, from 2018 to 2025. I've remastered them, I have a title, just need a cover image and I'll be ready to release.

We should swap the species of stags and hens so that the groom gets a cock party and the bride gets a doe do.

Computer music people: Hornet's LA2A-style compression #vst plugin is free for the next 28 hours or so.

I've tested this one briefly on Linux with Yabridge, it seems to work fine. Some of Hornet's other plugins (and their installer […]

The interview went OK, I think. It was for a small government agency in Bristol. The questions were fairly general and I could put together some kind of sensible answers. I should know the result by Monday.

The Job Centre has so far failed to make me an appointment to sign on, which means no […]

Also stuff like:

* a 4 MB SIMM
* stickers from record labels that no longer exist, now adorning my laptop
* Cassette singles from Inspiral Carpets and The Divine Comedy
* A brass 25-year calendar that ended in 2023

Still going through old papers and stuff. Stuff like:

* Flyers for the first band gig I played, aged 17
* Really mean caricatures of some of my school teachers
* BBC fact sheet about topology, signed by Johnny Ball, from 1984. It contains this joke: How do […]

Pencil drawing by me, about 30 years ago. A bipedal monster with crow-like beak and feet, cat-like ears, and shaggy feathers or fur. It's walking using a cane.

This is a selfie of me aged 18. It was the first project in the photography module at art college. We were asked to make a self portrait that represented something about our personalities. I just made this double exposure in the darkroom because I thought it […]

Black and white hand-printed photo of a young me, looking serious, overlaid with the texture of a paving slab so that I appear to have cracked, stony skin

Found this among my old papers. I must have picked it up somewhere at least 25 years ago. #foundpoem
A handwritten note in childish writing. It says:
On Sunday I went to the musik festble and I lost two people 1 is colled Riyn.

My parents brought me a box and two bags of old papers, letters and artwork of mine. Going through this stuff is emotional. I'm getting to know my younger self again, aged about 7-21. Kind of pretentious and sarcastic, but basically a good kid, and really creative.

I'm in Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿
I spent the day with my family around Loch Tay. The highlight was the Cave of Caer Bannog, as seen in Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Props are provided so that you can recreate the scene, like this...
I am losing a fight with a small white rabbit (prop), like Sir Bors in the film. I'm in front of the abandoned mine entrance used as the Cave of Caer Bannog, which looks greener and less bone-strewn now.

@keefmarshall look, it's sitting on a window today, so here's the underside of the Jersey tiger #moth
The same moth as upthread, but its underside seen through a window. The wings are orange, the body beige with black details.
y6nh.im-in.space.ap.brid.gy
@keefmarshall Snap! I just saw one this morning and was wondering what it was.
Same kind of moth as above, arrowhead shaped, with a bold pattern in black and beige
