Metabolic reprogramming in the spinal cord drives the transition to pain chronicity
Mabou Tagne et al. show that peripheral injury reprograms spinal cord metabolism to support neuroplasticity but depletes nutrients and suppresses autophagy, promoting chronic pain. Dietary intervention restores metabolic balance and halts pain chronification, highlighting a possible strategy to block the transition to chronic pain.
