So I have to save/rewatch my matches to take notes so I can actually learn from them. Then when the situation returns and I do make the adjustment, I must verbalize the lesson in my head to attach it with an emotion/feeling to help it stick.

I just treat it as a loop of experiencing things and then making a conclusion based on that experience.
But it can be complicated if we have stress or anxiety or whatever in the way.
