Wait until this guy needs to hire a plumber. He's in for a good time.

Then there is the added hypocrisy that men have been using their own image to market their paintings since the art market was a thing and no one said anything about that.

You're welcome. The idea that women who appear alongside their art are either "dumb" or "advantaged" is a slippery slope. Attractiveness is subjective—who decides who gets to show up? There are far bigger problems in the world than this ridiculous nonsense.
March 3, 2025 at 2:32 PM
Ah I see. Must be a miscommunication. I mean, I guess people can connect with it more easily that way so it tracks.
March 1, 2025 at 11:01 PM
I get that the algorithm rewards certain factors, but I was asking more about the idea of 'validity' based on your first comment. Do you think an artist's attractiveness should have any bearing on how their art is perceived? Or is the issue more about frustration with how socmedia skews visibility?
March 1, 2025 at 10:41 PM
These two examples are not really comparable because resin pours are easily salable and don't require much to fit into a home whereas someone's deeply personal work that "appeals to a smaller crowd" might not. The identity is not a factor.
March 1, 2025 at 8:15 PM
I mean someone's gender identity has nothing to do with it, considering you can be conventionally attractive AND nonbinary and trans, right? They're not mutually exclusive lol
March 1, 2025 at 8:13 PM
Does the art skill have to match the attractiveness of the artist to be valid or?
March 1, 2025 at 7:57 PM
It goes something like "How dare you be attractive to me, standing next to your painting. You dumb woman, how am I supposed to concentrate on the work now?"

Kinda stinks.

I'm seeing this opinion a lot lately and I feel like there's some kind of sexist argument to be made here but I am too tired and too over it to make it.
