I thought I'd missed something as it just sounded like all the old hits to me, tax cuts, spending cuts, cut the civil service, cut immigration with no meat behind it.

Even more so that it's Laura Trott.

Indeed, everyone needs a lifeline to get out of Carlisle.

Just try working in a secure,no-phone zone but the system admins insist on an authentication app so you have a 100yd dash out to your phone locker and back.

Maybe consider that most adults don't need a Christmas gift and just don't bother

Don't challenge him on the practicalities, challenge him on the fact that it's abhorrent

I'm a bit odd in that I quite enjoyed the film but couldn't get on with the book, to the extent that I didn't finish it.

That's far too cute to be a dug. That, good sir, is a dog.
A dug is generally of unknown provenance and you can never quite be sure if it's going to bite you or shit on you.

Sorry? Sorry? You know this is the internet? /s

It sounds like you're agreeing with me but, I thought by your lol comment, that you were disagreeing.

How do you think a lack of a "no first use" policy will change when backs are against the wall? Surely that's exactly when first use might become reality?

Highest handicap surely? Makes it easier to lose.

That might have once been true but few nuclear states have a no first use policy any longer and most have tactical nuclear weapons, which are a long way short of MAD.

What do you think it applies to?

Quite the headline. I struggle to see 16% to 25% as "soaring"

Thanks. She's in her final hours now. While I'm not going to be melodramatic and say they killed her, I'm really quite angry that they've made her last days much more difficult than they needed to be.

She ended up being readmitted yesterday when her oxygen levels plunged, just like we'd forecast.

My own experience is very different, with the local hospital desperate to discharge my elderly mother on a Friday afternoon, despite the fact that she needed a home oxygen supply and a commode that she didn't need when she was admitted. The idea that such things have a lead time to arrange was alien

My father was into amateur radio and radio hams were like vultures when someone died. They'd hardly even wait until the corpse was cold.

It's the one true name and it does what it says on the tin, unlike the word squash.

The daughter just wandering into what I assume is meant to be COBRA. The President and/or Prime Minister just standing on the edge of the reception alone and not approached by anyone.

Hah, I had a similar conversation with my brother who brought up some nonsense written by a guy "who has a PhD" I had to point out that that just meant that he had a really in-depth knowledge of a very small area unrelated to the topic discussed.

Is this a remake of Downfall?

"Pat, why do you carry that ridiculous 600mm lens on long hikes?"

Buddy, I can see mountains reflected in the eyes of a trailside pika.
A pika sits on a mossy rock. Tighter crop of the same pika, focusing on its head. An even tighter crop, focusing more on the pika's eye. An extremely tight crop of the pika's eye, emphasizing their reflection of an early morning mountain scene.

Ugh, no, I don't want to watch a YouTube clip when text works much better to explain non-visual things. I can read about it, I don't need a talking head reading it out to me.
