Once you punctured it, it was only good for about 24 hours. You had to use all six doses in 24 hours or it was considered wastage,” said Lam, explaining the government insisted that pharmacies make the vaccine available even if it resulted in waste. Moderna had 10-dose vials. He said this year the government is using single-dose vials, which might cost more, but in the long run, it’s cheaper because there’s no waste. “You took it out of pharmacies because you were concerned about all this wastage, but you didn’t tell us this year it was going to be a single-dose product,” Lam said.

So, flu and COVID vaccinations should be a success this year in Alberta. Sarcasm aside, the #UCP is a failure.
Contents of an email sent to the Red Deer North MLS: With all due respect, I wanted to let you know that your vaccination program this year is a disaster. First, preventative vaccinations for the general population should be free and easily available to reduce burden on our already strained health care system. Second, booking a vaccination (Influenza and COVID) for my 9 year old child is beyond onerous. The information online is overly complicated with regards to phase 1, phase 2 and underlying health conditions. The only condition for these vaccinations should be whether the individual desires the vaccination. Midway through the online process, you are told to call 811 for children under 12 years of age. Why even start the online process at all? Finally, calling 811 is of no help either. I've called three times today with no success. The persons working the phone lines are clearly fielding more calls than were expected since general booking opened to the public. Each time I called I was placed into a secondary queue which promptly disconnected my call with a prerecorded message that the lines are too busy. I'm continuously amazed at how our frontline workers are dumped on by this government. This is another failure by you and the government to serve your constituents. The utter contempt this government has for the education (ongoing teacher strike) and health of the people it's supposed to represent is abysmal. The multiple roadblocks this government puts up for doing the right thing are going to further undermine Alberta's health care and education. Regards,
