A new story 'Private Notary' is available to all today on Seize the Press!
"Private Notary" by Samuel M. Moss is now free to read!

I hesitate to assign genre labels to most stories, but "Private Notary" very much makes me think about the description of the New Weird as subverting cliches of the fantastic in order to put them to discomforting, rather than consoling ends.
"In the years of his appointment, the Private Notary has never met his Patron, or in fact notarized any document. This time, all these years, have been spent in study and preparation for when his services will be needed. When this may happen, and how it will manifest, he does not know."

I used to hate people and wish a plague would kill them all. Once I started studying the matter, I felt better. They aren’t much smarter than animals, the trouble comes with expecting too much from them.
