Aren't they doing stuff that will actually lower immigration? That was my impression that along with the performitive stuff they were greatly limiting it but i'm no expert.

I could buy that. Since i don't live in the UK i lack the smell for the situation i can't judge. I was mostly thinking about what the western social democratic left looks like today and how labour seems like an incompitent version of it.

Thats true. Personally i think Labours problems on this like other things is that the leadership is bad at politics, no nose or instinct for the thing. When to be dispassionate, performitive or relaxed etc.

People have been trying to make the case for years that being liberal on issues of crime and immigration is not detrimental to left wing parties. I just don't think that bears out.

As a backbench mp for a tiny party? Maybe, but it all came out when the right wing press started sniffing for weaknesses in the coalition sfter the election.

She was from a newish populist party that has the traditional problems vetting candidates that such partys have and had been a private citizen until very very recently.
