Without prefacing material at home first through reading, etc, class time becomes preoccupied with passive reception of info, and knowledge remains surface-level and mechanized. Since my students come in having already learned key content, we can jump right into application & deepening of knowledge

not sure how this looks in higher ed, but as a high school teacher I vouch 100% for flipped classroom as giving essential space in the curriculum for students to actually engage with the content through active learning w/me in the classroom, as opposed to being passive vessels that I fill with info
