In the most abstract sense it is true that there is not a USSR or a Cuba available to us like there was for SWAPO and ANC and so on but there's a reason for that.

I like the model of circles of expertise here. I'm probably the person on Bluesky who knows the absolute most about Roman sex workers, but there might be 30 folks here who know > than me about premodern sex work, & I'm ~top 100 in anc. Med. history knowledge. On, say, B'way musicals, ~top 1000.

Sure but the coalition currently has over 70% of the seats in Congress apparently, the ANC needed the DA for a majority but for some reason they didn't stop there and just included almost every tiny 1% of the vote party they could. Which confuses me frankly.

decided to check if my suspicion was right and learned that the fandom version of the tolkien wiki doesn't include the noldorin anc-alagos etymology, presumably because it's not finalised canon, but does include eriol's old english translation derived from it. embarrassing!
now ancalagon, there's a name that sounds good and benefits from knowing that sindarin etymology. you do know that etymology, don't you, son? wouldn't want everyone to have to surround you, all pointing and laughing fashion

The IFP's relationship to the ANC was mixed, both because the IFP's leader was a constant opponent of Apartheid but also not a fan of the ANC's socialism (as it mostly was during the CW).

That’s Nancy!! Wonderful story, Charlotte. I’ve worked with ANC more times than I can count (as a funeral director), and buried a lot of top brass. These instances of gratitude are indeed rare.
