This album reminded me of Empire of the Sun and Outkast to start with an then as things unfolded a more post punk sound came through the arrangements are really strong. Discordant in places, unsettling in others but it strikes a balance between interesting, curious and intriguing. The singer has an interesting cadence and delivery which kind of grabs you by the shoulder and shakes you. A character design that retains its sketch elements, a women with large dark curly hair, there is my signature an A in the top right corner and within the art itself, she has no mouth but that’s purposeful, she is painted with yellowish gold eyes, and skin that’s composed of dark purples, blues and black. Under her eyes are openings displaying a pinkish purple. If she were to be animated the sketch lining would shift revealing more of the pinkish purple. It’s based on 2D & 3D styles I’ve learned. She represents my hopes, desires & struggles. And up close look at her face Wide-shot showing her torso & chest , a less apparent glow from her eyes but it is mostly a sketch.

🇬🇪 like a bit of rock so I've gone for indie prog-pop.

🇮🇱 are a powerhouse of Eurovision and helped keep things interesting through the '80s.

🇲🇦 were in it that once and it's a shame they never came back.
That Depp version of Willy Wonka, but it's the singer of Circus Mircus failing to qualify in 2022. He's got bunch-like tufts of dark brown hair sticking out from under a brown bowler, and his eyes are covered by steampunk round metal glasses that are probably made from coffee filters or something. He's in a deep red tan leather jacket, diagonally stripy top, and small red scarf. He's singing a jaunty but angular bit of '90s indie prog-pop. Hallelujah! Here's Gali Atari and Milk and Honey in 1979 doing a sort of "Mack the Knesset" verse that's constantly repeated. But, in a fine music-hall skit, each verse adds another vocalist. Alas they stop at four, perhaps for budgetary reasons more than a lack of time. Still, it's a nice idea and a decent enough song that mounts up pretty well. Here we see the four of them: three men and a woman in second position. The men look like Harry Hill's brother Alan, in white shirt and trousers, black curly hair, bowtie and braces. The woman is in a long, shimmery dirty-pink tulle thing in empire style. Behind, the concentric circles of the set design form the Zanussi logo. 1987 now and Israel dramatically confound expectations. No white outfits and slick dance routines this year. Oh no. In a brave move they've tried something different... very different. And it could all too easily have gone terribly terribly wrong. Datner & Kushnir are a sort of Jewish Blues Brothers, and we see them here in their suits and strip ties with sunglasses in their hair, gesturing little circles with upright fingers. Their song, "Shir Habatlanim", begins rather delicately with some polite chamber orchestration. Then the chorus arrives. It bears some resemblance to the "Hokey-Cokey", if the "Hokey-Cokey" were about hula-hoops. The second verse is decidedly more "Carry-On", and the duo become increasingly animated (and excellently choreographed). You could try to join in with the finger actions, but it's harder than it looks. In summary, a risky choice, but one that paid off excellently because it's one of the greatest Israeli entries ever. Samira Bensaïd representing Morocco that one time in 1980 in a year that Israel weren't around. Hers is a rather grand thing, part European, part North African, and curiously 'oriental' throughout. Strangely beautiful and beautifully strange. It came second to last on the night. So often Europe gets it so so wrong. Samira's wearing some form of national dress: a turquoise and gold loose-sleeved robe that meets perfectly down the middle with a golden belt. Her hair is curly and dark. Her hands are mid gesture. It's a shame we've not seen more from North Africa.
