The world of 'what's happened to that show?' 'Eh, Virgin gives us a cheque every month and I think the Doctor might be banging the Brigadier's mixed-race great-great-great-granddaughter' is a long, long way from us now.

It would have been much better if instead of the Brigadier’s dad, Mark Gattis’ character in Twice Upon a Time turned out to be Gilbert Mackenzie Trench, designer of the original police box
“I tell you what. These police boxes, they're ever so good, aren't they?”

Like the time we went to a thing at a brigadier's house, and his great-grandfather's literal redcoat was hanging (framed) in the downstairs bathroom.

On Earth Turlough has pinched The Brigadier’s vintage car. Having crashed he finds himself at the mercy of the Black Guardian with a mission to kill The Doctor! A clever plot of two Earth time zones (1977 & 1983) is something not often seen on the show but works brilliantly here.

a perfect capstone on the UNIT era and the brigadier's character arc, serving as a pseudo-remake of enemy of the world but this time with kaiju and, more importantly, sarah jane smith (right before terry nation shows up and ruins her character). RIP mike yates

If you enjoyed the adventures of the Brigadier's grandparents, Alistair and Lillian, in Foreword to the Past, I've got a new short story with them coming up in the latest HAVOC files from @candyjarbooks.bsky.social!

Remember the Brigadier’s alternate universe Inferno nephew who had a relationship with the guy who was the reincarnation of his father’s counterpart in the main Doctor Who universe who would eventually reincarnate into the Great Intelligence

The Brigadier's excuse to the Press as to why his troops are in the area is the same Putin gave in 2022, Ukraine border. "Training exercise".
And 15 minutes later a soldier has shot Dr Who in the head. Cue end credits...

Finally finished Ambassadors of Death last night.
No idea why the Brigadier has a map of Bristol behind his temporary desk at the British Space Centre but this is suburb/village where I grew up.
14 year old Tony would have been very excited by this.
57 year old Tony was too

Yes, I love that! There's at least one scene in "The Silurians" where the Brig orders her to stay behind while they go into the caves and when she bristles at his sexism, the Doctor gently says "Please, Liz, I think the Brigadier's right this time" without being a jerk about it.

The Third Doctor cleverly repurposes The Brigadier’s handgun for a non-lethal task. Plus, 1970s performers in full-body asbestos suits!

...Jamie and Zoe all appear only as illusions, so they don’t count, but the Brigadier’s appearance leaves all kind of questions, such as why is he back in uniform and looking like he did in the ’70s despite this apparently taking place after “Mawdryn Undead” because he remembers Tegan...

Fun fact- the Brigadier’s grandfather (who is also named Alastair) is not ACTUALLY his grandfather, but his great-uncles because his ACTUALLY grandfather (played by Mark Gatiss in Twice Upon A Time), had an affair with Alistair Sr.’s wife, leading to the birth of the Brig’s dad Gordon (cont)
