A small clarification: nowhere does it say that Nero considers himself "bad," but he firmly believes the people of Fortuna considered him a burden, at least before joining the ranks of the Order's knights.

bingo. this is also essentially the basis of my interpretation of reading the themes of dmc as analogies for gender expression, particularly the concept of toxic masculinity, which will be expanded upon in a video eventually (nero represents masculinity in a positive sense in case you’re wondering)

I was under the impression that it's love and compassion that brings true power in DMC, and humans have a far greater capacity for those things than demons. Dante surpassed Sparda, and Nero will very likely surpass Dante and Vergil one day.

oh right I have this theory that in dmc, the ratio of human:demon blood isn't an actual quantifiable measure of power at all. ie nero being "1/4 demon" doesn't mean he's "weaker" than dante and vergil. it mostly depends on how well the demon and human parts are able to harmonize

I do notice that people in the dmc fandom really seem to dislike Nero or at least not really respect him as a character. Which I mean I guess happens people are allowed to dislike a character. But I still find it quite sad bc to me Nero is the best parts of Dante and Vergil combined
