Even accounting for his megalomania, you have to wonder how much of this reflects spite toward his wife — whose estrangement from him, excepting brief public appearances, seems nigh on total.
In addition to the aesthetic woes, the near-pointlessness of the space, and all the rest: of _course_ Trump would destroy the East Wing, where the First Lady's offices traditionally sit, to build this. His titular First Lady has hardly set foot near him this term.

Once again I return to this list of symptoms of depersonalization in dysphoria and, like, yep these sound like me.

To be a climate person — or even just to understand the causes and effects of climate change — gives you a kind of "double consciousness," to borrow a term from African-American philosophy, broadly speaking an estrangement from both yourself and the dominant culture that does you violence.

This may be the saddest part of all this, at least so far for many of us. I have friends and family that I love, but wonder if estrangement is in the future or already taking shape. The orange piece of shit is not worth the broken relationships he festers. Here’s hoping our brethren see the light.

From January 2021 to January 2022, my heart had shattered 3 times. That year also included a move from Oregon to San Diego, omicron, a new job, and ongoing estrangement from family.

I'm absolutely fine but obviously it's sad that he passed away & has left his wife, my Aunt widowed & my 2 cousins without him.
But yeah family estrangement is really weird.
Only found out via a FB post, if I hadn't seen that, who knows when I would have found out 🫠

hey just a little reminder that we don't expect women who divorce abusive husbands to emotionally care for those men the rest of their lives. Adult children of toxic and abusive parents deserve the same right to disengage. Estrangement sucks but it's necessary for so many people.

This is the kind of shit I’m talking about. And like, my wife is estranged from her mother, for very good reason, and it is in many ways better that she is not in our lives, but the estrangement itself is also an ongoing source of pain for her.
