So e16 makes it easy to implement new stuff? Something even leaner like openbox could use a rewrite in rust, you know. But that's just a WM, maybe making it into a DE would be a nice project.

A linux distro that's actually good, providing a stable XLibre/Openbox experience with Flatpaks and dnf or apt. Not Ubuntu based, but perhaps Debian. NVIDIA proprietary drivers included. Should work with most Win64 software OOB.
Difficulty: near impossible, it's a Windows world.

Do they strongly depend on systemd? Most of my drive for using Openbox or Fluxbox (beyond minimalism) was that they don't depend on "Linuxisms", but idk how's the situation in other DEs
Also Wayland in OpenBSD but Xenocara is fine & I recently discovered Arcan which looks awesome

in openbox you could have two window switchers, one for each, but so far i haven't worked out how to do that in labwc, if it can be done at all.
