そういうことではないかもしれませんが、25年ぐらい前にDTPソフトのスタンダードだったQuarkXPressが今になってなぜか2025版をリリースし、買い切りなんと100,210円(税込)です！

Used to have an old #QuarkXPress license (2015), which I used for private layouts (birthday cards, TTRPG handouts, etc.). Because I switched PCs, I need to deactive the old license and reactivate it on the new PC. Okay, cool.

I looked into QuarkXpress, and wanted to make it work (color fonts! it will do color fonts!) but it doesn't have the option of "Import a novel's worth of text and auto-generate pages."
You have to create the pages and then manually drag the text into each of them.

Hace 25 años me tocó, en imprenta, hacer un trabajo con QuarkXpress. No tenía ni idea de usarlo. Me compré un libro y en un finde pude saber usar lo más básico.
InDesign es parecido y agradecido para trabajar.

Hace 25 años me tocó, en imprenta, hacer un trabajo con QuarkXpress. No tenía ni idea de usarlo. Me compré un libro y en un finde pude saber usar lo más básico.

自分が今まで見てきた DTP から今までの歴史について、自分もかつて QuarkXpress 使っていたしほぼほぼリアルタイムに自分が体験・見てきたことと重なる話だった。
これ読んで自分もこれまでの同じようなデザインツール遍歴を振り返って見ると、あらためてふと思うことがあって、
デザイン界隈は、こういう「三種の神器」というワードが出てきてしまう「道具中心のパラダイム」から、ほんとうにもう脱却しなきゃいけないと思った。

When I was at CNET in the early 2000s the Marketing department sent me some information which could have easily been in the body of an email, or maybe a small .txt file, but they put it into a QuarkXPress file that was several MB. Again, this was the early 2000s, so several MB was very large indeed.
Illustrator before they had multiple undos I wanted to kill myself. I learned on Photoshop 2 before they had layers lol. But the absolute worst in the design world was Quark Xpress. What an absolute piece of shit.
Back in my day, AI used to stand for Adobe Illustrator! And we hated that, too!

QuarkXpress was industry standard for a long time and apparently still exists.

Others that are far less known/used include "Quarkxpress" as well as "Marq" — both paid programs with various tools and tutorials available online.
Additionally to formatting, if you are looking into creating assets or editing files, there are various editing/drawing (11/15)

Ils n’ont rien appris du concurrent qu’ils ont démoli et avait suivi une pente semblable : qui se souvient de QuarkXpress ? Ils ont cru trop longtemps que leur clientèle d’imprimeurs était captive…

Looks like QuarkXPress is still around. I remember seeing the boxes for that when I was buying Zork at Egghead Software back during the Reagan administration.

高いから個人で持つようなものではないけど、Affinity Publisherが縦書きどころか日本語の基本的な組版能力もないのでちゃんとしたものが欲しくなるのよね。InDesignの買い切りがあればなぁとは思う（まぁ価格にもよるけど）。
パーソナル編集長はDTPをやったことがない人であれば使っていても違和感を感じないだろうけど、経験者は逆にイライラするんじゃないかと思う。
まぁ個人で本制作アプリを欲しがる人なんて少ないだろうから買い切りで出すようなことはもうしないだろうね（サブスクを一般的にしたAdobeはほんとにつぶれてほしい

I'd take Canva a lot more seriously if it wasn't a complete POS at handling body copy. I'm spoiled by QuarkXpress but I don't need much. Canva has limited kerning and ligature support but no *basic* paragraph formatting?
