Fantastic news! Every high school will offer CS in Michigan by 2027-2028.

CS in Scotland is yet to be a core subject with equity of access. Compared to other traditional STEM subjects, it has the largest gender gap, worst uptake & least amount of teachers

We need ‘strategic interventions’ to arrest decline, says computing science teaching campaigner. Toni Scullion says latest teacher census numbers are "alarming" for the subject, but recruitment issues can be solved with the right policies

😔 💔 to see this, but not at all surprising! CS continues to have the least number of teachers compared to traditional STEM subjects, the least places to train as a teacher, the worst overall uptake and the largest gender gap.

#SaveComputingScience
It's concerning to see that the number of CS teachers in Scotland has fallen further to 550, down from the already critically low figure of 578 reported last year.

Fantastic work by @StGeorgesSchool & Jack Walker! 💻 Computing Science isn’t a core subject in Scotland & has had the largest gender gap among STEM for over a decade. Explore data from 1986 here: www.dresscode.org.uk/scotlands-co... #SaveComputingScience

Happy International Women's Day!

A great summary below of some of the challenges around the gender gap in Computing Science at school level in Scotland.

Happy International Women's Day. It's a stark reminder that there's still so much work to do.

* Persistent Gender Gap: In Scotland, Computing Science at school level still has the largest gender gap compared to any other traditional STEM subject, and this has persisted for over a decade.

Great to see the advocacy section of this report really laying out the challenges of or subject and advocating for equity of access.

It's really great to see this. Well done. Yet we cannot forget that CS at schools compared to traditional STEM subjects has the worst uptake, largest gender gap, least amount of teachers, least places to train, lowest num in ITE & not yet core subject.
