i think for the sestercentennial next year america should just close up shop, run a big going out of business sale, everything must go. i mean it's 250 years, enough already, it was a good run but this clearly isn't working.

Semiquincentennial is too much of a mouthful. Should have used Sestercentennial, instead. Or go all the way with Bicenquinquagenary, which has the added benefit of sounding totally badass!

I also notice the 250th anniversary has a harder-to-pronounce/spell name than "bicentennial"; Wikipedia has varying names: "Semiquincentennial, also called the Bisesquicentennial, the Sestercentennial or the Quarter Millennial[...]" Though looks like just "250th" is the most popular choice...
