Kits include a full-color printed pattern and all the yarn needed to make the featured design.
Three cakes of Freia Fine Handpaint Yarns gradient fiber are shown on a moss covered rock together with several skeins of Pokainu Yarns beautiful Shetland Wool. The gradients range from a lovely saturated cornflower or periwinkle blue into a soft honey tone and finally into a rich amber. The accompanying Shetland is in “Truffle”, a pale tannish color. I couldn’t resist combing up a tiny puff from the fleece I scoured earlier this week. (It’s the same fleece I’m giving my students at Fiber Fusion NW.)

I can’t wait to spin it. For samples. I need to. (Completely ignoring the samples I already have.)

A Friday fleece arrival meant I snuck in a few bits of play before facing the horrors.

This handful of white Shetland wool locks washed up lovely and lustrous and quickly spun up into a structured and personality filled yarn.

Weavette woven squares are great for small sample sizes like this.

A workshop bench with 15 jars of powdered dye for wool and silk. Most are Landscape dyes but the indigo dye is from Gaywool. The Landscape dyes feature a kookaburra (original colours) or a platypus (elements series) on their labels, while the Gaywool label features a spinning wheel. 26 small handspun skeins of fine Shetland in a pile - all are undyed creamy-white, and they’re displayed on an orange and green woven cloth. They’re mostly 3 ply yarns, and are all fingering weight. Spun on a one-of-a-kind Majacraft wheel. Each skein is roughly 20g, so there’s more than half a kilo of yarn in this pile.
