We're not experts in #Autism but we are experts in our child. Our son stopped trusting all adults except me. He would cry himself to sleep saying 'I wish I could die' his levels of anxiety were so high, his sleep broken by nightmares. @ros_luff #TransparencyOnExclusions

@ros_luff discusses the refrigerator mother theory/narrative. Not so many decades since CYP like ours were locked in institutional settings. Negative pathways and misunderstood. We've reached the stage of enlightenment or have we? #TransparencyOnExclusions

Many teachers may only have a one size fits all approach and this needs to be broader. All teachers receive safeguarding training, often have to have first aid training. Viewed as impt. Why not the same for #SEND training and #Autism training. @ros_luff #TransparencyOnExclusions

@JarlathOBrien - what do we know about exclusions. Exclusion rates are rising. He wants to believe special schools would manage this much more supportively but they use fixed term exclusions more than any other area. #TransparencyOnExclusions

@GeoffJames42 An issue linked to exclusion is MH and well-being. Lincoln is home to the highest excluding schl in the country. Exclusion has case studies grounded in scientific evidence. This needs to be further linked in #TransparencyOnExclusions

There is no compensation to the family, the damage is done. Making a formal complaint can be counter productive or cause fear that it will further refuel lack of support for your child. @ros_luff #TransparencyOnExclusions

@BehaviourA We need to be open about the effects of exclusion. What are we still doing this? It is to do with ideology and beliefs...perhaps lacking in the view (@JaneFriswell) are the family, CYP and Senco views...#TransparencyOnExclusions

Exclusion seen as a cultural habit? 1 in every 6 kids experienced fixed term exclusion and uncomfortably so, a strong correlation to gender, poverty, ethnicity and disability. #TransparencyOnExclusions @JarlathOBrien

If different approaches are trialled and not everyone is on board it will fail. It takes a whole school approach. It's encouraging everyone to accept difference and work towards no more broken children #TransparencyOnExclusions @ros_luff
