#VSCode's
yet again the greatest claude code feature remains the fact that it can corrupt vscode's window to the point where i have to fully relaunch the editor

i think claude code might be abusing vscode's terminal renderer in ways it's never dealt with before

📢 Another update for the Logical Structure view in #VSCode's Spring Boot Tools. The application node now reveals a customization icon to select the stereotype groups that should be considered. Switch to the pre-release version to play with it. ☕️⚗️ #jMolecules

📰 VSCode's SSH Agent Is Bananas

💬 Commenters express mixed feelings: craving a VSCode-like terminal editor, but VSCode’s bloat frustrates them. 🤔

I would say VSCode's colour matching is among the best/most useful and it is still a ballache.

And if you're not already doing it, never open a pair without adding it's closing symbol. Then go inside the pair to add content.

Hmm, in fact VSCode's syntax parser automatically errors on `>` and `}` in JSX text nodes, thus obviating (effectively overriding) the "react/no-unescaped-entities" options for these two characters.
October 7, 2023 at 10:00 AM
The crux of the problem is needing to be able to parse the text in a language aware way and then be able to color ranges of text within native text views with coloring. Given that it seems that VSCode's TextMate implements all of the language parsing in TS, we'd need to call JS from Native. Can't do

does vscode have any plugins for tree-sitter?

I think vscode's folding sometimes switches to getting fold information from language-servers (as it does for highlighting as well) -- I think this is bonkers, and all information can be provided by syntax

That's annoying, #VSCode's file regex replace seems to allow variable length lookbehind, however the cross-file version does not. Whyy.

I just want it to repeat the same thing I already did successfully.

I didn't realize there was a bug thanks to a certain function written with capital by VSCode's auto complete. I hate that feature sometimes.

Already fixed now.

go back to emacs? every feature you want is in emacs or is a package away (real)

eglot (LSP client) is built in now. That + corfu + eldoc-box gets you all of Intellisense. VSCode’s sorry git ui can’t match magit (nothing will people think Github is git and git is an annoying cli to get to Github)

Have also tried Zed (very solid), and vscode's Roo Code extension (wow it consumed so many tokens so fast!).
June 2, 2025 at 5:28 PM
Hah this is great

Alternative is that vscode's terminal has a "copy as html" option too, but that's very representative and less fun

or put a script into a directory preceding the one vscode's binary is in in your PATH

Ever since I learned about VSCode's timeline feature it saved my butt so many times

- File gone and you never committed? => Recreate the file at the same path and you can view the timeline

That holds even if you delete the entire directory structure 🤯

I can now tell I'm going to be one of those people that keeps on using Azure Data Studio until it just doesn't work anymore.

VSCode's MSSQL extension has some great features, but VS Code isn't a data platform tool at its heart! It doesn't do everything, and until SSMS is on Mac or Linux...

It can use any VSCode extension that’s cross listed at openvsx, but vscode’s ssh and docker extensions are propriety, so the positron people had to bake in a different extension to get it to work.

A sophisticated cyberattack targeted the Cursor IDE—a Visual Studio Code (VSCode) fork popular among developers for its AI-assisted coding features. Attackers published a fake extension called "Solidity Language" in the Open VSX extension marketplace, masquerading as a tool for Ethereum smart contract development. This extension was, in reality, a vehicle for malware distribution and remote access.
