Rebecca wasn’t just angry—she was right. In 1840s Wales, tollgates bled poor farmers dry.
So “Rebecca and her daughters” rose up. They wore dresses. They smashed gates. They demanded justice and they won reforms.
A riot? Yes.
A turning point? Absolutely.

Nov 1968: 'The Welsh and English can drink together on Sunday in the Lion Hotel in Llanymynech following the Welsh referendum on Sunday opening for licensed premises. Previously the hotel was only 1/2 open on Sundays because the 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿/🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 border line ran through it.' #welshhistory 🍺

If you’re going on a monster hunt, look up! Gargoyles are an excellent place to start. This particular specimen looks out over St Michael’s Churchyard from the Old College, Aberystwyth

🪨✨ Dosbarth Mrs James have taken a virtual trip back in time with @AmgueddfaCymru to explore the slate mines of Wales! We were blown away by the story of the Penrhyn (1900-1903) Strike - one of the longest protests in British Industrial History! 😮 🪨✨

I've got 2 projects brewing.
One is a photographic essay about the 'Liverpool Welsh'
I set about taking some test shots this morning.
These are from the Welsh Presbyterian Church, on Princes Road, L8. Locally known as the 'Welsh Cathedral'. #WelshHistory

Just led a brilliant Walk & Talk at #CaergwrleCastle with the Cambrian Archaeological Association! 🏰✨
We explored what’s known – and still debated – about this rare hybrid of Welsh siting & Edwardian-strength masonry, perched above the River Alyn. 1/3
