When I’m talking to tech-savvy people about democracy, I tend to say that the US is in V1.26, and we’re hardware-locked from upgrading.
Meanwhile, most of the world is on 2.x, and 3.x is in beta testing.

My parents used to joke that I’d get my comeuppance for my teenage years when I had a kid.
