We’ve discussed this on the Cloudynights forum last year, knowledgeable people there argued it’s unrealistic and/or a scam.

Thank you. Sorry, I don't know of tutorials for Skywatcher. But, if you join Stargazerslounge or Cloudynights, you can get all your questions answered there. I hope that helps. I'm in the first one as Mandy D.

Yeah it's a really great app. Unfortunately only on iOS for now, but the author plans to port it to Android once out of beta. There's also a beta-testing thread on Cloudynights about it: www.cloudynights.com/topic/857117...

🌧️ Once again, the clouds are calling the shots. Wednesday night’s sky is off-limits, and the Westport Observatory will be CLOSED. Don’t worry—those stars can’t hide forever, and we’ll be back as soon as the skies clear! ✨🔭 https://was-ct.org/

How many here are/were members of CloudyNights? I was an original member of that community, I think in 1999. For about 12 yrs I was the moderator of the Binocular Forum and for 3-4 of yrs I was a site Administrator. Went inactive there around 10 yrs ago. Published many articles there.

Think about what you want to capture. Sun? Planets/moons? Nebula/Galaxies?

That determines what sort of scope. Or if you even need one, since you have camera already.

Forums like CloudyNights have beginner threads. And YouTube has plenty of great tutorials.

Oh, absolutely, people sell used scopes and mounts all the time. Check the classified ads at CloudyNights here (you'll need to make an account and sign in before you'll see the classifieds section tho) www.cloudynights.com

🔭 Observatory Closed (Again) Alert!
Apparently, the clouds signed a long-term lease over Westport and aren’t leaving anytime soon. So once again, the WAS Weekly Wednesday Star Party is rained out.

See you next week—unless the clouds unionize.
