The purported grave of David Riccio (aka Rizzio) from Canongate Kirk, Edinburgh and the wonderful burst of colour from the flowers. Riccio, the private secretary to Mary, Queen of Scots was murdered by Henry, Lord Darnley (her husband) & others in 1566 #edinburghwalks

Hector Macdonald, Dean Cemetery, Edinburgh. Rose from private to Major General in British Army. B.1852. D.1903 by suicide in Paris whilst returning to UK under investigation . Fought in Afghanistan & Africa. The story of the ‘fighting Mac’ is impressive #edinburghwalks

The Cramond Lioness believed to be a funerary stone for a Roman commander in Edinburgh, Scotland. It depicts the lioness devouring the head of a prisoner. Discovered in 1997 and now in National Museum of Scotland. #edinburghwalks

It is indeed a great gastro pub with an interesting history. Known as ‘The Jungle’ to Leithers in the 1960’s and 70’s, so it has definitely changed its mood, cuisine and clientele since then. #Leith #edinburghwalks

A flashing blue light from the 20th C. for the Hunter Square cop. Before police radios, if that light flashed the Officer would return to the police box as there was an important message. #edinburghwalks

Metal ring - or lug - on the Bondside at Leith Docks, Leith. It lies beside the Old East Dock,completed by 1806 but filled in by the early 1970’s.
