I imagine that the richest man in the world, who has at his disposal the technology to house & operate X, can duplicate that technology for personal use, anytime & anywhere he wants to, if the people he employs agree to do it.

In the LAMP stack days, it was Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP — and a little “m” for memcache.

As @9ds.bsky.social puts it: just slap memcache on it and it’ll be fine.

A great moment from Tern Stories:

TTFB is important and caching html via #Cloudflare #APO will make a huge difference. But first visits won't be cached, so it's also essential to invest in above average web hosting that takes advantage of Brotli, Nginx proxy caching, Opcache and Memcache. liquidweb.i3f2.net/QOddn6

So *something* in the way #drupal imports config, and it's a recent change, causes install failures when there are multiple web heads and memcached in the mix. It's complicated, I think the fix is a unique memcache prefix per build. But that's something to look into tomorrow. 😴

I've written "memcache" as "memecache" no fewer than three times today. Suspect I might be on to something there.

Are there any low ceremony approaches to "caching" denormalized data to speed up complex queries (Sql Server)? Redis? Memcache? Or should I go straight into learning #Kafka and #Debezium?

one great question i got posed before i took the job by a good friend of mine who worked there at the time was:

"ok lets say you have a db layer thats all multi-node, and in front of that you have servers that are purely memcache. what happens when one dies?"

Complex Vulnerability Chain Discovered Involving Git, SSRF, memcache, PHP Deserialization, TRP00F, LDAP, LDIF, and SSH
A complex vulnerability involving Git, SSRF, memcache, PHP Deserialization, TRP00F, LDAP, LDIF, and SSH has been discovered. This exploitation chain allows privilege escalation via SSH. The technical details include the use of SSRF to access internal services, the exploitation of memcache to inject serialized PHP objects, and the use of TRP00F to bypass LDAP restrictions. The main impact is unauthorized access and privilege elevation on affected systems.

Has anyone created a /metrics REST API endpoint for WordPress that reports data about the WP instance -- object cache reads/writes/memory (from memcache/redis/apcu), php-fpm stats, system load, disk space, etc.

Ideally, with Prometheus and OpenTelemetry output formats.
