#quantifiable
Musk and others on the far right are obsessed with things like Lord of the Rings and Dungeons and Dragons because they see fantasy worlds as reinforcing their own beliefs about immutable hierarchies of race, gender, and by extension morality www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2025/1...

I’m willing to bet in the face of stupidity Elon’s worst is yet to come. In fact I’d be willing to bet his drug usage and his propensity for awkwardness are a quantifiable way to predict when he will say these things as well as using his rocket launchings and “going up up up up!!. Now down! Splat!!!

While I'm sympathetic to the previous post in this thread, this right here shows the limits of techno-utopianism. Prison isn't a technical solution to a specific problem! It serves several different functions, some of them conflicting, and none of them stable over time or easily quantifiable
prison is on some level essentially a technological fix to the societal problem of “need some assurance these people won’t do these things again” it’s not inherently insane to think that that aspect of it might one day be technically fixed (No, pedants, I’m not saying “we can do this today!”)

This is a false narrative and meant to attack the left. Trying to say all people calling for this are a very specific group. Not only is there no quantifiable way to prove that, but I’ve seen tons of people who voted for Harris and other Dems demand a change in leadership. Including myself.

“what we call “scientific racism” could be called “fantasy racism” instead, a belief that people can be reduced to quantifiable numbers, like so many digits on a character sheet.”

Great piece on racism in fantasy, efforts to change it, pushbacks, and the link to IRL racism of some powerful people.
The far right is obsessed with Lord of the Rings and Musk keeps posting about "hobbits" because modern scientific racism owes more to fantasy worlds and gaming systems than genetic science, and they see both as effective mediums for right-wing propaganda www.theatlantic.com/ideas/2025/1...

"fantasy racism" as a reframing of "scientific racism" is particularly insightful

At least I know what my first goal will be in my new role, I just need to make "get comfortable with delegating projects" into a more quantifiable objective.

Ok... but how? Is there a quantifiable or even qualitative indictor?

A one-time head of the agency believed luck was a quantifiable individual trait and would assign the “007” moniker to the candidate who exhibited the most luck during training. The tradition stuck.

Just how has Donald Trump shown in any quantifiable measure that he has anything but disdain for our Military?

Where is there any substantive evidence of true reverence, of authentic respect, of real gratitude?

#Brexit is economic disaster: no matter how its enthusiasts spin it, this is a quantifiable fact.

UK will not make economic progress till gov acknowledges this inconvenient truth & eliminates trade barriers. Rejoin single market & customs union seems an obvious step. Start the process to #RejoinEU

1) the stock market is where public capital investment happens
2) capital investment is absolutely a core part of the equation determining GDP
3) quantifiable just means measurable on a numerical basis
4) the stock market can be a part of the economy, a gage of capital confidence and a poor measure

Ripp what quantifiable data can you possibly get from someone keysmashing. How do you even correlate that to anything.

"Real Magic" by Dean Radin PhD
Parapsychologist and chief scientist at IONS, Dr. Radin blends quantum physics, mysticism, and data to argue that magick or "Psy" is quantifiable. If you’ve felt that magick is more than wishful thinking or that consciousness shapes reality, it's an inspiring read.

lrp is always why I’m saying that while I call myself a nonbinary femme or nonbinary woman (depending on the day) the reality is my gender “stuff” is not rly quantifiable in a racist society where womanhood is defined in vicious opposition to Blackness

at the end of the day Femme is my gender

How much it costs to own n% of a public company is a completely quantifiable measure, it is pure numbers on an open sales floor. If it is a good measure of the economy or measuring the weight with a tape measure, it is a completely easy number to have

I see a lot of hopium on this platform today. There is no quantifiable or logical reason to believe that giving away your leverage will result in Republicans doing anything you think they are obligated to do. Certainly not without a plan to negate it's consequences.
Will Mike Johnson swear in Adelita Grijalva? Democrats didn't even make a deal for him to do THAT.
The only silver lining to last night’s cave.
