back to poetry, ft. the last appearance of Sabekka. the imagined context here is her living among/possibly assimilating into the culture of the Tuskens after padme's death, + an ongoing affair/common law marriage with Obi-wan (hashtag BenBekka). www.tumblr.com/smols-darkli...

Or rather, she translated it from a language she tells me is the devotional dialect of a tribe of Sand People the Ghorfa who live near Mos Espa. I hear so much of who she is in these lines; I wonder if she realizes…well–translators always pour themselves into the breaks between languages, I suppose.

Sabekka Pallopides was my oc version of Sabé (at the time of my writing she did not have a canon backstory; i still prefer). I imagined her as a kind of anthropology grad student after her time as handmaid, & used this conceit for several of the diegetic poems i wrote.
