Our government is making decisions that run completely contrary to other decisions they're making, and they are making a lot of the decisions simultaneously.

It's truly baffling, and the only thing that makes sense to me is that the technophobic decisions are the ones they actually believe in.

Are there any smartwatches/fitness trackers that will do emergency assist without needing to be connected to a phone?

My stepmother is totally technophobic but goes out for long walks by herself (she is in her 80s) and my dad is s t r e s s e d about it.

Having a terrible time with my mobile at the moment, as I've just (yesterday) transferred from pay as you go to a contract and for whatever reason now can't make or receive calls. Doesn't help that I'm completely technophobic and haven't the first clue what I'm doing ...... 😳

machines are what makes life enjoyable

you would not enjoy your life with no machines. i don't care how technophobic you are, there is a machine you rely on that it would ruin your life to take away. where that line is is different for everyone, which is why it is wrong to take anyone's machines

Honestly, I have no idea. Sorry! Deep down I’m a technophobic user of IT

If you are as ignorant and even a 100th as technophobic as me a podast of Jon Stewart being educated by Geoffrey Hinton (The Godfather of AI) is brilliant, explains it like to a 5 year old, with wit and clarity. It is lengthy, though!! www.youtube.com/watch?v=jrK3...

society is about to have room for moralistic scolds - those moralistic scolds will have their hands full attacking and condemning the tens of thousands of paramilitary and concentration camp guards and collaborators in this country

no one will have time for technophobic horseshit and prudery

Oh, yeah I've seen that resentment of mediation. Very relatable of course, but still does what you say here. Makes them look technophobic.

the upshot of this though is that faculty are overwhelmingly technophobic and tend to resent any technological mediation between themselves and their field, and this absolutely contributes to the justified belief that academics are out of touch

Switching gears from my technophobic dread, I think there is a really interesting conversation to be had about why we (the West) hate stories that eschew endings that reject a premise of violence in favor of forgiveness and non-violence e.g: Legend of Korra, Hades 2, Arcane (sorta kinda maybe.)

Trump is seen as a divisive figure, creating a "fortress economy"harming the US. Other words include "bold," "dangerous,"& "divisive" according to polling by The Economist & YouGov. There's also analysis suggesting a "technophobic"stance & a belief his policies are causing serious economic havoc! 😞

Trying to navigate a familiar image-based UI without being able to see it can be tricky.

Navigating an UNfamiliar image-based UI without being able to see it is next-level challenging.

Doing it via phone w/ 2 senior citizens who are technophobic? Expert level.

And tonight, I was not an expert. 😂

Maybe a little too much corpo propaganda. There technophobic badguys are kind of an obvious tell. I wonder if there were some last minute script revisions

lmao not yet but fingers crossed!

I haven't tried tossing Rue anywhere near Scheele because Rue's a bit technophobic and has never set foot in S9, which I'm sure would make things challenging lmao but I do like Scheele's design a lot!

I wish I could. Sadly it's the only way my family all around the world keeps in touch, the technophobic buggers they are.

But yes, the people throwing the insult around rn believe they are using it in that way, towards those they think are blanketly technophobic.

Problem is, most of the people against things like digital ID actually work in the tech industry and understand the security issues.

Interesting propaganda: Treating things *everyone* hates (except the marketroids who came up with them) as something only technophobic, confused "Boomers" feel.

These are modern *in*conveniences, that make normal transactions slower and more failure-prone.
You know you're peak Boomer when these 6 modern conveniences genuinely confuse (and annoy) you
Nothing says “peak Boomer” like getting mad at a QR code.

I love the people who think I don't like AI because I'm a Luddite or technophobic as I skeet about it from my Galaxy phone.

Being anti-GenAI is not being anti-science. TF? It's not even precisely technophobic.

Quite frankly, being pro-GenAI in its current form is being anti-science, as it ignores the multidisciplinary aspects of science itself and how technology must bring more good that harm, which GenAI does NOT.

... disproportionately on the woman in different-sex two-person partnerships.

Longer-term I think we simply also need to change our systems to better cope with a stagnant or declining human population. This likely involves radical automation, which is one reason a technophobic left is idiotic.
