Ordinarily, I'm not a fan of the trope of someone "calculating the odds," like C-3PO, & we're going to get into some of the #TexasHold'Em #Poker missteps or improbabilities of #CasinoRoyale for sure, but THIS actually isn't at all farfetched.

Textually, this is Le Chiffre's obsession. It works 🤓
Someone calculating impossible-to-calculate odds (say, surviving flying through an asteroid belt, which btw, in an asteroid belt, even in the densest ones, they're so far apart you can't see from the other, lol; so your odds are pretty good, almost 100%, no matter what you do) is one of my pet peeves, but this is totally normal poker stuff. You wouldn't have to be at all some kind of genius; you'd just know how to play the game and have a pretty good idea of what your opponent was looking for. And the script point here is not that Le Chiffre is a genius, but that he knows the game of poker, plays it often anyway, and is very confident at the poker table. This is his arena. He knew exactly what his opponent had, and he played exactly how he wanted to play it. Now, a point of poker order here, he's right. All Le Chiffre knows, and is telling us he knows, is that his opponent has an open-ended straight draw at the turn, going into the river. That gives him 8 cards to beat Le Chiffre's two-pair, and those are terrible odds, BUT that still means that if he also pushed all-in here, that 1 in 5 times, Le Chiffre gets beaten. So if his opponent were worse at poker/more of a gambler, even though Le Chiffre is playing flawlessly, there's a 1-in-5 shot his perfect play won't result in a good outcome. Imagine making your living like this. I kinda did for, like, 10ish years during the height of the Poker Craze, which this occurred right near the start of. I also sold drugs and did other stuff (any time I could get hired to write, that was obviously ideal), but poker was what mostly paid the bills for about a decade.

Growing up off of Bluegrass since I was little I am happy to see a champion like Rhiannon Giddens shredding on Texas Hold'em.

I just hope Beyonce pays all the artist, writers and creatives that helped her their due. In money, respect and recognition.
